Harold J. Wilson and Parris Lane of Parold Entertainment Inc. founded the Booker T. Glass Foundation to create, inspire, educate, and celebrate the life and legacy of New Orleans legendary Band leader and Bass Drummer, Booker T. Glass, as well as the true New Orleans Culture of Brass Band and 2nd lining, so that future generations will have an opportunity to learn, participate in programs, workshops, and stories to keep the tradition alive.
Its mission includes supporting musicians, jazz education, performances, and programming.
A Pioneer Of NewOrleans' TraditionalBrass Band Music
As a pioneer of New Orleans' Traditional Brass Band music, Glass was an innovator who consolidated extraordinary talent that comprised the best New Orleans Musicians of that time.
The fifth-generation Brass Band Performer, "Homeboy," is the great-grandson of Henry Booker T. Glass, one of the last musicians whose development pre-dated the Dixieland style of the early 1900s.
Booker T. Glass organized the first Black Musicians Union for Preservation Hall. As an incredibly powerful bass drummer and bandleader, he performed with Orleanians such as Louis Armstrong and Mahalia Jackson.
BTG BRASS BAND
Honoring ANew Orleans Legend
Booker T. Glass Brass Band, aka "BTG Brass Band," is a traditional New Orleans brass band that consists of Grammy Award-winning musicians from New Orleans as well as musicians from San Francisco's Twilight Brass Band.
In honor of the New Orleans Legendary Bass Drummer and Band leader, Booker T. Glass, the traditional "BTG Brass Band" is spearheaded by New Orleans native Harold "Homeboy" Wilson.
The Booker T. Glass Brass Band is the New Orleans branch of Parold Entertainment Inc., “Twilight Brass Band” of San Francisco, CA.
The Tradition

As a child, Harold would sit on his great-grandfather's knee every Sunday, as his great-grandfather intentionally bounced him to teach him the rhythm of the bass drumbeat.
Harold has been a performer in traditional New Orleans 2nd line since age two.
As an avid participant in the traditional parades for over 20 years, he is dedicated to keeping this national treasure alive and well in San Francisco. Still, he has decided to return home to his roots.
"Homeboy" is also an original Grand Marshall for several organizations and has played with numerous Brass Bands, including Tremé, Olympic, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Authenticity Is Essential
And as the ONLY NEW ORLEANIAN spearheading a New Orleans Brass Band in California, he is coming back to his roots to spearhead the "BTG Brass Band," for he truly believes that AUTHENTICITY is essential in showing respect for the music, traditions, and those whose shoulders he stands upon, such as his great-grandfather, Booker T. Glass, and his uncle Pàpa.
